A neighbor's blunt note about my free pile changed my posting habit

I used to leave a box of old kitchen stuff on the curb with a 'FREE' sign and just snap a blurry photo for the group. A lady named Peggy messaged me saying my listing looked like a crime scene photo and she couldn't tell if the blender had a lid. I started wiping things down and taking one photo in natural light with a ruler beside it for size. Now my stuff goes in under an hour instead of sitting for three days. Has anyone else gotten feedback that made you switch up how you list?

Isn't that the truth? I had a similar wake-up call when someone asked if the lamp I listed was actually a lamp or a really sad floor plant. After that I started putting stuff on a clean towel instead of the garage floor, and I check the photo before I post to make sure it actually shows what I'm selling. The ruler idea is genius, I've never thought of that but it makes so much sense for people who can't tell if something is mini or full size. Now I even add a little note about the condition, like if it has a scratch or a missing piece, before anyone has to ask. It saves me from twenty back-and-forth messages and honestly my stuff moves way faster too. People just want to see what they're getting, plain and simple.
