Remember when zippers on jackets actually lasted more than a season?

I found my dad's old Carhartt from the 90s in his garage and that zipper still works smooth. Meanwhile I've had to replace two jackets in the last 3 years because the zipper teeth strip out. Anyone else notice this or am I just buying the wrong stuff now?

Does it feel like everything's made to break faster now? I notice it with appliances too, my mom's old mixer still runs but my new one died after two years.

Aw, come on now... I gotta disagree with you there. That old mixer probably used way more electricity and took up half the counter space, plus it probably had like two speeds and no safety features. My new blender has a pulse function, a locking lid, and it shuts off automatically if it's overheating. Yeah some stuff is cheaperly made but that's because people wanna pay $30 instead of $300. If you bought a KitchenAid today it'd probably outlive us both, same as any old appliance.
