My cast iron skillet survived a house fire but not my wife's cleaning routine

Last week I came home to find my 12 year old Lodge skillet sitting in the sink soaking with soap after my wife tried to 'help' by scrubbing it. Three years ago that same pan sat through a grease fire in my apartment kitchen and came out looking better than it does now. Anyone else have a good piece of gear that got wrecked by someone trying to be nice?

Soap on cast iron isn't the end of the world, just reseason it.

Yeah @uma_baker99, people act like a drop of dish soap will instantly ruin decades of seasoning. It takes way more than that to mess up a good pan.
