Got tired of replacing my kitchen shears every 6 months so I tried a little trick
I was going through those $15 kitchen shears like clockwork. They'd get dull or the rivet would loosen up. So about 3 months ago I picked up a pair of Wusthof ones for $45 and I started sharpening them with a standard ceramic rod after every big cooking session. It takes maybe 30 seconds. Has anyone else found a way to keep your kitchen shears going longer without spending a fortune on high end ones?

Yeah sharpen them regularly. I inherited my grandma's old Henckels shears, they're probably 30 years old. Still cut through chicken bones like butter. I just hit them with a fine diamond file a few times a month. Also stopped cutting things like cardboard or opening packages with them. That's what a cheap utility knife is for. Separate tasks save the edge big time.

Does anyone else find that sharpening less often actually works better if you store them in a sheath so the edges never knock against anything in the drawer?
