Found a 20 year old Lodge cast iron skillet at a garage sale last Saturday
I was driving through Springfield last weekend and spotted a rusted old skillet in a pile for 5 dollars. Brought it home, scrubbed it with steel wool and vinegar, then seasoned it in the oven three times. Cooked eggs in it this morning and nothing stuck at all. Has anyone else revived an old pan like this?

Oh come on, is it really that big of a deal? I mean sure, you cleaned up an old pan (great job, gold star), but people act like finding a vintage Lodge is some kind of life-changing event. My grandma's old pans are still sitting in her garage rusting away, and she never once seasoned them like some science experiment. You scrubbed it (good for you), you seasoned it (cool), but let's be real - eggs not sticking doesn't prove it's some magical heirloom. I've seen perfectly fine nonstick pans do the same thing for 15 bucks at Walmart.

Not everyone shares your take on it, @skyler_lane83. My buddy Mike pulled an old Griswold out of his aunt's barn last year, spent a weekend cleaning it up, and he's been using it almost daily since. He says his modern pans feel cheap compared to that old thing, and after trying breakfast at his place I get why people get excited about them.
