Picked an industrial bandsaw over a hand saw for breaking down primals. Still not sure I made the right call.
About a year ago I had to choose between a new Hobart bandsaw or going back to a bone saw and knife setup like my old man used. Went with the Hobart cause it was faster. Now I get cleaner cuts but I miss the feel of doing it by hand. Anyone else struggle with going electric versus sticking to the old ways?

Yeah I saw a video from a butcher on youtube talking about this exact thing. He said power tools take away the feel but give you consistency. Kinda makes sense though. I think you made the right call with the Hobart cause primal breakdowns are a ton of work by hand after a while. Your wrists will thank you later trust me. But I get missing the old ways, there's something satisfying about doing it manual.

Man that butcher on youtube gets it exactly right. Do you ever find yourself grabbing a hand saw just for one cut to keep that feel in your work?

Wait, hold on - did you say you actually go back to a hand saw for a single cut? Man, that sounds like pure pain to me. I tried that once on a beef sirloin primal and regretted every second of it. My forearm was cramping up halfway through the cut.
There's no way I'd trade my bandsaw for nostalgia like that. Maybe I'm just soft but once you get used to the speed and neatness of power tools, going backward feels like punishing yourself for no reason.
Your wrists must be made of steel or something if you can switch back and forth without issues. More power to you though, seriously.
