What about checking with local farms or butchers? They often have lamb necks from their own stock at lower prices. This could help you manage the spike without overspending.

Great point, it's the old story of skipping over what's right in front of us. We get so stuck in the habit of grabbing everything from the big supermarket, we forget the guy down the road might have it cheaper and better. It applies to way more than just lamb necks, too. You see it with vegetables, eggs, even stuff like honey. There's a whole local economy most people drive past every day without noticing.
