Broke a $140 splitting maul last Tuesday, any of you switched to something else?
The head just flew right off the handle mid-swing on a stubborn hind quarter. It was a 8lb maul I'd had for about 4 years from a hardware store in Scranton. I got lucky it missed my foot, but now I'm looking at replacements and the prices have gone up crazy since I last bought one. Any of you had better luck with a particular brand or style for breaking down heavy beef and pork? I was thinking about trying one of those composite handled ones but I'm worried they'll snap in the cold locker. What's everyone using these days?

Huh, my steel handled one's been fine for years and I swing it in the cold all the time.
