A customer in Denver asked for a 3-inch thick tomahawk ribeye last week

Had to explain that the bone structure and muscle grain make that cut impossible without a custom order from the processor. It got me thinking about the most unusual custom requests you all have fielded lately.

People want what they see online without knowing the real world limits. It's like ordering a car part that doesn't fit your model.

Yeah, the "real world limits" thing is key. Sometimes the request shows they don't even know what they're asking for, like wanting a steak cut that would just ruin the meat. Makes the whole conversation harder.

Totally get what you mean. Honestly used to think explaining things was just being difficult, but seeing those "ruin the meat" kind of asks in real time really flipped that for me. Now it just feels like part of the job, you know, saving people from their own ideas before they waste time and money. That steak example is perfect, because once it's cut wrong there's no going back.
