Stopped using washi tape after a trip to the Dallas Pen Show

I was at the Dallas Pen Show in June and watched a woman set up her bullet journal with nothing but a black pen and a ruler. She had this simple weekly layout that looked cleaner than anything I ever made with stickers and tape. So I tried ditching the washi for a month and honestly my spreads are way easier to flip through now. I still keep a roll for bookmarks but thats it. Has anyone else downsized their supplies after seeing a minimalist setup live?

Funny enough, that black pen and ruler setup works way better in a busy kitchen too. When I meal prep at work I just use a sharpie and masking tape for labels because anything extra gets greasy or lost. The whole minimalist thing clicked for me after I realized extra decorations just slow down my flip-through time. Its almost like having less stuff makes you pay more attention to what actually matters on the page.
