My kid called my bullet journal a 'paper app' and it stuck with me

I was setting up my weekly spread yesterday and my eight-year-old looked over and said, 'So it's like an app, but on paper.' I've been doing this for six years and never thought of it that simple. Do you ever get a fresh take that makes you see your whole system differently?

Wait, your eight-year-old knows what a bullet journal is? That's wild. My nephew just turned nine and he barely knows how to use a paper clip. The fact they could make that connection is kind of amazing. Kids see the world in such a clean way, it cuts through all the stuff we add. Makes you wonder what else we're overcomplicating, right?

Ha, that's actually a great way to put it.

My old filing system was just stacks of folders until my niece called it a paper search engine. She was right, it's just info you look up. I tore the whole thing apart that weekend and set it up by how often I actually need things, not how they came in. Why did I wait for a kid to point out the obvious? It's running so much smoother now.
