Just walked out of a stationery shop in Austin and I'm worried about washi tape

I stopped by this little indie store off South Congress to grab a new journal since mine is almost full. Every single roll of washi tape they had was the cheap stick-once kind that peels right off paper. I bought a $6 roll that looked cool and tested it at home, it barely held on a sticky note for an hour. Has anyone else noticed stores pushing this low quality stuff or did I just hit a bad spot? Where do you guys get tape that actually stays?

Man, that really sucks @oliver719. It sounds like some stores are just buying the cheapest bulk tape they can find online and marking it up like crazy. I've noticed the same thing with a lot of indie shops lately, they'll stock these super cute designed rolls that just have zero stick. Probably the same supplier selling to everyone. The good stuff usually has a bit of texture to it and costs a few bucks more, but you gotta hunt around to find it.

Oh man, my buddy bought some fancy washi tape from a shop in Portland and it fell off her planner in like ten minutes. It's probably just a bad batch or the store trying to save money.

The washi tape I got from a random Etsy shop has been stuck to my laptop for like 8 months now and it's still fine. Some brands are just trash honestly, doesn't mean the whole store is scamming people. Your buddy probably just got a dud roll or put it on a surface with dust or oil on it.
