A friend's one comment made me simplify my whole layout

I used to pack every spread with color, washi tape, and five different trackers. A buddy glanced at my weekly page and said, 'Man, this looks like a chore list, not a journal.' That stung, but he was right. I cut down to just three things: events, tasks, and a small mood dot. No more habit grids or fancy headers. It's been about 2 months now and I actually stick with it daily instead of quitting by Tuesday. Has anyone else had a friend or family member point out something obvious about their bujo that changed how they set it up?

So what's wrong with a journal looking like a chore list? Mine looks like a spreadsheet most days, because that's what I need it to be. I tried the minimal dot and three section thing and lost half my appointments by week three. The washi tape and habit grids aren't decoration for me, they're the reason I actually open the book. If your buddy's comment made you happier, good for you, but some of us need the clutter to function.
