I found an old bank statement from 2016 and saw I'd been paying a $60 gym membership for two years after I'd switched to jogging outside, never once canceling it. A random call about a 'membership renewal' from the gym tipped me off, and now I check every subscription before the trial period ends, has anyone else had a forgotten autopay sneak up on them?

The gym membership thing is classic, but I remember reading a piece about how streaming services are the new trap. People sign up for a free month of some random channel to watch one show, forget about it, and then get hit six months later. Saw a stat that said the average person wastes over $200 a year on stuff they forgot they had. My buddy found out he was paying $15 a month for an online dating site he stopped using in 2019. That stings worse than a gym bill, honestly. These companies count on you forgetting.
