The $7 notebook I bought at a Walgreens in Tulsa back in 2011 is still how I run my budget
Back in 2011 I was in Tulsa for a cousin's wedding and my checking account got hit with two $35 overdraft fees in one weekend because I had no clue what was actually in there. I grabbed a cheap spiral notebook at a Walgreens on Peoria just to write down what I spent, mostly out of frustration. That notebook turned into a habit, and now 13 years later I still write every bill and every purchase down by hand before I pay anything online. Your mileage may vary, but seeing the numbers in my own handwriting does something the apps never did for me. Does anyone else still use paper for their budget, or am I the last one?
