Opted for the DIY oil change kit after seeing the shop estimate
My car needed an oil change last month and the shop quoted me $65 for synthetic blend. I looked up a kit at AutoZone for $28 and figured I'd give it a shot even though I'm no mechanic. Took me about 45 minutes messing with the drain plug and filter wrench, got oil on my driveway, but I saved $37 in the end. The kit came with a funnel and gloves so that helped. Has anyone else tried cheaping out on basic maintenance and had it pay off?
