My sister said she saves $40 a month by making her own coffee, but I think buying it saves me time.
We were talking about small cuts and she said, 'I mean, that's a whole phone bill right there,' which hit different because I'd just paid mine and it felt like a real trade-off, so what do you guys think is the better win: the cash saved or the time kept?

That "whole phone bill" line really does hit different... my buddy was the same way, always making his own lunch to save. Then he got a promotion that needed those extra morning hours, and the takeout became a tax write off for client meetings. Sometimes the saved time buys you more money later.

I mean it's like that with so many little things, idk why we treat saving pennies like it's always better than buying back time.

But come on, is saving an hour in the morning really the make or break for a promotion? That feels like a stretch. Most people just buy lunch because they're tired or lazy, not as some big career move. It's fine to spend for convenience, but let's not act like it's always some smart investment. Sometimes a saved dollar is just a saved dollar.
