My grocery budget hit a wall at Kroger last Tuesday
I was standing in the checkout line with my cart full of what I thought was a smart shopping trip. Then the total came up to $87 and I had only budgeted $60 for the week. So I asked the cashier to pause, pulled out my phone, and started scanning prices with the store app right there. Found out the store brand oats and canned tomatoes were half the price of the name brand stuff I grabbed. I swapped out five items and got my total down to $58. Has anyone else done a mid checkout price swap to save money?

Oh man you are my kind of shopper, I did the exact same thing at Walmart last month when my total hit $92 and I had $75. I swapped out four things including pasta sauce and butter right there in line, felt a little awkward but saved like $20. It's wild how much the store brand stuff adds up when you actually check it.
