My car budget went sideways for 6 months because of a simple sensor
I thought I was doing great saving $200 a month for car repairs. Then my check engine light came on and I spent $400 at a shop in Phoenix for them to say it was a bad oxygen sensor. They replaced it and the light came back on two weeks later. Turned out the real problem was a tiny vacuum leak that took three trips to diagnose. Between the diagnostic fees and the parts I was out about $700 total. That was six months of my savings gone in one shot. Has anyone else had a simple problem turn into a money pit like that?

And see, that's the thing about life in general right now, everything feels like it should be simple but it never is. Like when your phone battery dies and you think you just need a new charger, but turns out the port is busted (happened to me last month, $80 down the drain for nothing).
