Keep an eye on how family trips split costs or you might pay more
My cousins always plan weekend getaways and assume we'll split everything evenly, even if some people eat out more. Last time, I ended up covering an extra $150 for meals I didn't have. Now I insist on separate checks or a shared fund we all add to upfront. It stopped my vacation savings from taking a hit.

I learned that $150 lesson the hard way too after a beach trip where my brother's kids ordered lobster while I had a salad. Now I'm the unofficial family accountant who announces the separate check rule before anyone opens a menu. It's a little awkward for a minute, but way less awkward than secretly resenting everyone for a month. My family just laughs and says "Willow's on bill duty again.

Setting clear lines early saves so much drama later, right?
