Just tried a cash envelope system for groceries and it worked too well...
I gave myself $300 in cash for the whole month at the Kroger on Main, thinking I'd just spend less. What I didn't expect was how much I'd stop buying snacks and single items I didn't need just because I had to hand over the physical money. I learned that seeing the cash go down makes you think twice in a way a card never does. Anyone else have a simple trick that made you spend way less without feeling like you were trying?

Used to think cash was just a hassle until I tried it for gas money. Watching those twenties disappear from my wallet made me actually plan my trips instead of just swiping. I'd ask myself if I really needed to drive across town for one thing, or if I could group errands. The card never made me feel that pinch.

Man, I feel this. I started doing cash for takeout and it's brutal. Watching a whole twenty vanish for one mediocre pizza hits different than a card tap. I caught myself actually cooking because I didn't want to break another bill. The card just makes it feel like funny money, but that physical cash leaving your hand is a full reality check.
