Appreciation post: Finally figured out my meal planning after 6 months of trial and error
I kept overshooting my grocery budget by $40 every week because I was buying stuff that expired before I used it. Took me 6 months of tweaking to realize I just need to plan around what's on sale at Aldi instead of picking recipes first. Now I spend $60 a week for two people instead of $100. Anyone else struggle with this more than they expected?

Always bought ingredients first. That Aldi trick is smart, might steal it.

Picking recipes first" actually works better for me because I end up buying less processed junk that way. If I just chase sales I wind up with a weird mix of stuff that doesn't make cohesive meals.
