I was checking out last Tuesday and this older woman behind the register noticed I kept grabbing bags I didn't need. She leaned over and said, 'You know those plastic produce bags add up if you use two per item, right?' Then she showed me how she weighs loose greens in one bag, flips it inside out for the next bunch, and reuses them until they tear. I figured it was pennies, but I did the math on my last 5 trips and I was wasting about $2.30 a week on bags and overstuffing. She also told me to skip the pre-cut fruit since Aldi marks that up 40% compared to whole. I started cutting my own melons and pineapple and last week my total dropped by $11. Has anyone else found a random employee tip that actually stuck with you for years?
