The hostel clerk in Budapest told me to skip the £9 airport bus and I nearly hugged her
Last summer I was checking into a place near Keleti station and the girl at the desk mentioned a bus that runs straight from the airport for about 350 forints instead of the tourist shuttle. I tried it the next morning and it dropped me two blocks from the door, no fuss at all. Now I always ask the front desk for the cheap local route before I book anything online. What's the weirdest cheap transport tip a stranger has handed you at check in?
