Shoutout to that hostel in Prague that changed how I pack...
I stayed at this place called Plus Prague back in March and it totally flipped my thinking. The lockers were too small for my big suitcase, so I had to leave half my stuff out in the open. Now I'm stuck between using a smaller carry-on to save space vs. bringing a bigger bag for comfort. Which side do you fall on... do you sacrifice stuff for a smaller bag or just deal with the risk? Has anyone else run into locker size issues in hostels across Europe?

Right, so you had a locker that was too small and now you're overthinking this. That's just one bad locker, not a reason to gut your whole setup. But to answer your question, I'm small carry-on all the way. I'd rather wear the same shirt three times and wash it in a sink than drag a giant bag through cobblestone streets. The risk of theft is there, but that's what locks and common sense are for. What exactly are you packing that you need a bigger bag for? Is it clothes you barely wear or something else? Because that's the real issue, not the locker size.

Wait, are we really calling it overthinking when you got burned by a bad locker? @piperr58 I see your point about not gutting the whole setup, but for me it's about peace of mind while traveling. I travel with a camera, a laptop, and some extra chargers plus a few days worth of clothes. That stuff doesnt fit in a small carryon without me wearing a jacket with 20 pockets. And honestly, the cobblestone thing is real - I'd rather have one bigger rolling bag than two small ones balanced on my shoulders. Theft is a worry, sure, but I've never had issues with a proper lock and staying aware. Some of us just need a bit more space to feel comfortable, not because we're packing junk.
