Rant: hostel guy in Lisbon said my packing list was why I kept paying bag fees
I was flying Ryanair out of Lisbon last month and got hit with a 45 euro gate fee for my carry-on being too big, and the guy at the hostel front desk watched me repack and just said flat out, 'you pack for what if, not for what you need.' That stung but he was right, I had three shirts I never wore and a whole second pair of shoes. I switched to a 40L bag and started rolling clothes with packing cubes, and my last two trips I paid zero bag fees. Now I'm second guessing my toiletries pouch though, what do you all actually leave at home?
