PSA: my $7 airport bus beat the $45 rideshare and got me there faster

Last month I flew into Austin and almost tapped the rideshare button out of habit, but a guy at the gate pointed me to the Route 20 bus for $7.25. It dropped me two blocks from my hostel in 35 minutes while my friend's $45 Uber sat in the same traffic. I've started checking every city's airport bus before I book anything now. Has anyone found a city where the cheap bus is actually a trap? Curious which ones to skip.
