Okay the weirdest thing happened at a hostel in Lisbon

I mean, I was trying to save money by using their kitchen, and the 'free food' shelf was just a single, giant jar of pickles. Like, industrial size, maybe 5 gallons. For a week. Has anyone else found a hostel where the free food was just one very specific, very large item?

Was it just pickles, or did they also have a giant tub of mustard? I feel like that would be the perfect weird pairing...

It's always one weird bulk item, never a normal mix of stuff. Reminds me of those "buy in case of apocalypse" grocery lists.
