My sister's souvenir habit is wrecking our travel budget

We set a tight budget for our family trip to the coast, but my sister keeps buying expensive trinkets at every stop. It's annoying because we agreed to split costs evenly... now I'm covering more for basics like food and rides. I tried suggesting free things like hiking, but she just ignores me. Now I'm not sure about traveling with her again.

Ugh, souvenir people never get it, do they? She's probably dropping cash on those overpriced t-shirts or ceramic lighthouses at every stop. Then you're stuck paying more for food and rides because her money's gone on trinkets. How is that fair when you both agreed to split costs? Next time, maybe set a firm souvenir budget before you leave, like fifty bucks max per person. Otherwise, what's the point of even planning a budget if she ignores it?

What if souvenirs are her main fun though?

Souvenirs are part of the travel experience for some people. If that's her main joy, cutting it out kills the fun of the trip for her. Maybe the budget just needs to include that as a planned expense.
