My bus ticket mix-up in Prague taught me a cheap backup plan

I was trying to catch a bus from Prague to Vienna for 15 euros, but I bought the ticket for the wrong day. The next direct bus was full and cost 40 euros. Instead, I took a local train to a smaller town called Breclav for 8 euros, then caught a different bus from there. It added two hours but saved me over 30 bucks. Has anyone else fixed a booking mistake with a weird local route?

My buddy once got a train to the wrong coastal town in Italy and just took a ferry the rest of the way. Worked out fine.
