Wait, your own cousin didn't know you were planning a trip? That's wild. You'd think family would be in the loop about big stuff like travel. Did you just never mention it to her before? Kinda awkward to have to explain your whole vacation plan mid-complaint. She must have been totally out of the know.

Oh man, that reminds me of the time my aunt found out I was moving states from a Facebook post. (She was not happy.) Some family news just travels on its own weird schedule, you know?
