I used to be all about flight deals until I tried train travel in Europe

For years I chased cheap flights to save money on European trips. Then I took a train from Amsterdam to Berlin last spring and it cost me 35 euros and I got into the city center without any airport shuttle hassle. The flight would have been like 20 bucks but then I'd pay 25 just to get from the airport to my hostel. Has anyone else found that trains end up cheaper when you add in all the transfer costs?

Well actually that Amsterdam to Berlin train is more like 50-60 euros on average unless you book way ahead. Did you snag a promo or just get lucky with timing?
