I always booked flights on Tuesday mornings... until I tried Wednesday afternoons instead
For years I thought the whole 'book on Tuesday' thing was real. Then I read a post from someone who actually looked at flight prices for a whole month and saw Wednesday afternoons were cheaper. I tried it for a trip to Nashville last month and saved $47 on the same flight I had my eye on. The trick was booking about 3pm Eastern time, not early morning. Has anyone else noticed a specific day and time that actually worked for them?

Oh man, I had the exact same thing happen. I was a diehard Tuesday morning booker for years, thought I was so clever. Then my buddy who's a travel agent was like "nah, Wednesday at 3pm is the real sweet spot." I tested it for a trip to Portland and saved like $60 compared to the Tuesday price I'd been watching. Something about airlines updating their sales on Wednesday mornings and then the prices actually drop a few hours later when nobody's looking. Now I set an alarm on my phone for 2:45pm Eastern on Wednesdays and just refresh the page until it hits 3.

My husband swears by Wednesday afternoon bookings too, saved us $50 on a flight to Chicago last spring.
