Booked a $45/night private room in a hostel near Alfama instead of a $60 Airbnb in the outer district because I thought being central would save transit money. Turns out the hostel had a 2 AM music curfew that never got enforced and my room sat right above their bar patio, so I got maybe 4 hours of sleep over 3 nights. Has anyone else traded quiet for location and regretted it like this, or should I just accept that hostels are gamble deals in tourist cities?
