Hit $500 in flight credits just from being flexible with dates

I've been booking refundable fares and rebooking when prices drop, and I checked my Southwest account yesterday - $510 in travel credits sitting there. Gonna use them for a trip to Denver next month, anyone else stack up credits like this?

Buddy of mine does this religiously with Delta, ended up with over $800 in credits last year and flew his whole family to Orlando for basically nothing. He's convinced it's the only way to fly now.

Know a guy from my old gym who tried this with United a couple years back. He'd book the cheapest basic economy fares for work trips, then religiously check for flight changes every single day leading up to departure. Ended up with almost $600 in vouchers over six months just from schedule tweaks and equipment swaps. Used most of it to fly his girlfriend out to visit him when he moved for a new job. He says the trick is never to complain about the changes, just politely accept whatever credit they offer and move on. Your mileage may vary obviously, but he swears by it.
