Why I still cook with liver when everyone else avoids it
Back in the day, my family ate a lot of liver because it was dirt cheap and filling. Most folks now say it tastes metallic or is just too weird, but I find it tasty and a real money saver. I just soak it in milk first, then fry it up with some onions and potatoes. It makes a whole meal for pennies, even if my neighbors think I'm strange for serving it.

My grandma always fried it with bacon, said it made the whole house smell like home.

My last liver attempt looked more like shoe leather than food. Soaking it did nothing, my onions burned to a crisp. Guess I'm not winning any chef awards, but it fills me up. Cheap dinners come with a side of humility.

Soaking it in milk is the real trick. My mom taught me that, cuts the strong taste right down. Makes a cheap dinner feel like a real meal.
