Warning: my 3 bean chili turned into a bean bomb last Thursday

I left a big pot of chili simmering on low while I ran a quick errand and came back to find the lid popped off and beans splattered all over my stove. Anyone else have a budget meal explode on them?

@wyattc76 calling it a bean bomb is too accurate lol. i left a pot of red beans and rice simmering once and came back to find the lid halfway across the kitchen and bean paste all over the ceiling. took me a solid 20 minutes just to scrape the stove grates clean. the worst part is when you think low heat is safe but the beans just decide to rebel anyway. why do cheap meals always have to be so dramatic about it?

i had a similar thing happen with a batch of split pea soup a few months ago, but it was the middle of the night and i fell asleep on the couch. woke up to this weird hissing sound and the whole kitchen smelled like burnt dirt. there was a thin crust of green paste all over the back of my stove and even on the wall behind it. i have no idea how it traveled that far honestly. @wyattc76 is right, bean bombs don't discriminate. they really just want to make you suffer for trying to eat healthy.

oh man, that brings back a memory. i did something similar with a big batch of lentil soup last winter. had it on low while i went to grab the mail and zoned out talking to the neighbor. came back to find the lid rattling and orange lentil goo all over the back burner. took me like an hour to scrub the burnt bits off the glass top. bean bombs are real and they don't discriminate.
