Warning: do not toss your carrot tops, I did and wasted money
Last month I was peeling carrots for soup and threw the leafy tops straight in the trash like always. Then my neighbor Maria in Austin showed me she blends those tops into pesto with walnuts and garlic, and it costs her basically nothing. I tried it with 2 bunches I would have binned and got a full jar of sauce. I figure that's about $4 back in my pocket each time, so what other veggie scraps am I dumping that I should be cooking?
