Unpopular opinion: I think the 'never buy pre-chopped veggies' rule for saving money is a trap for some people. My partner and I spent 45 minutes (and a lot of frustration) just dicing onions and peppers for chili last night.

Exactly, what's the point of saving money if you're wasting time and sanity? That 45 minutes could have been quality time or just relaxing after work. Sometimes paying for convenience is the REAL frugal choice.

Plus you're not even saving the full amount when you factor in gas and wear on your car. The cheaper gas station might cost you more in the long run.

Oh, hold on there. That's not really how the math works out for most people. The gas and wear on your car from driving extra miles is basically nothing for a normal trip to a different gas station. Unless you're going way out of your way by like 10 miles, the cost is maybe 50 cents to a dollar. The real question is whether your time is worth more than the money you save on gas, which for most of us is probably not that much anyway. But it's not like you're losing money on the wear and tear if the station is on your normal route.
