Tried the 10 dollar grocery store pasta sauce, regretted it all week
Everyone here swears by the store brand sauces, but last Tuesday I grabbed the cheapest jar at Kroger and it tasted like sweet ketchup with regret. I spent more on garlic and herbs trying to fix it than I wouldve spent on a mid tier jar. Anyone else find these so called budget hacks actually cost more in the long run?

I burned a whole Sunday afternoon last month trying to doctor up a 99 cent jar of marinara with onion, wine, and like half a stick of butter. It still tasted like something between tomato soup and regret. Honestly, the trick I landed on is to always keep a box of good canned crushed tomatoes and a spoon of better than bouillon in the pantry. That way when I'm tempted by a cheap jar, I just make a quick sauce from scratch in the same time it takes to open a jar and add stuff. The cheap jars are only worth it if you're gonna use them straight up with no fixing, and even then, I'd rather eat buttered noodles.
