Stuck between the $1.29 store brand rice and the $3.49 bag, and I'm still mad about it
Went to the grocery store near my place in Dayton last week with a tight list and $40 to last until Friday, so I stood in the rice aisle way longer than a grown man should. The store brand was $1.29 for two pounds and the name brand was $3.49, and I picked the cheap one to save the money. Cooked it up with a can of black beans and some onion, and it came out gummy and gluey no matter how I rinsed it first. My wife took two bites and said it tasted like paste, and she was not wrong. Now I'm out $1.29 and still have five pounds of rice I don't want to eat. Has anyone found a cheap rice that actually cooks up fluffy, or am I just supposed to soak it longer?
