Question about my cheap bean soup hack that backfired
I've been adding a splash of vinegar to my bean soup for years to make it taste richer, but my roommate just asked why my kitchen always smells like feet. Turns out I was using cleaning vinegar from under the sink, not the cooking kind, this whole time. Has anyone else mixed up pantry staples in a truly gross way?

Read somewhere that cleaning vinegar is around 6% acid while cooking is like 4-5%, so you were definitely getting a stronger kick. No wonder your kitchen smelled like a locker room.

Actually cleaning vinegar is just more concentrated, so you were basically making super powered soup. That foot smell might just mean you're using too much. A tiny drop of the strong stuff could work the same as a splash of the cooking kind. Maybe your roommate has a sensitive nose.

Wait, is a sensitive nose really the issue here or is the roommate just being dramatic? I've seen people get weird about vinegar smell even when you use the normal cooking kind. Maybe they just hate the idea of cleaning with food stuff?
