Olive oil prices hit my pantry hard last week in Austin
The regular bottle jumped to $14 at my local HEB, so I grabbed the store brand for $9 and it tastes fine. My neighbor saw me and said "you're paying for the label, not the olives," and that stuck with me. Anyone else switch to generic oils to keep meal costs down without losing flavor?

Used to be a snob about the store brands, but after a couple of blind taste tests at home, I couldn't tell the difference in most dishes, so the label really is just about looks.
