My grandma's $0.50 soup trick backfired in a way I did not see coming
Back when I was broke in Fresno around 2019, I started tossing leftover veggie scraps into a freezer bag for stock like my grandma did during the depression. After about 3 months I had a gallon bag stuffed with onion skins and carrot tops, so I boiled it all down expecting free soup for a week. Instead it turned bitter and weird, mostly because I threw in way too many broccoli stems and some old cabbage. Now I stick to just onion, carrot, and celery bits, unless someone on here knows a way to save the brassica stuff?
