I finally stopped buying shredded cheese after reading the price per pound

Someone in the checkout line did the math out loud, 8 ounces of shredded was the same price as 16 ounces of a block. Now I spend 10 minutes grating on Sunday and it lasts all week, has anyone else made that switch?

Have you noticed how the store puts the price per pound right there on the tag, almost like they're daring you to look? Once you start checking that on everything, you can't unsee it, it's like a whole other layer of grocery store math.
