Had to choose between chuck roast and pork shoulder for Sunday meal prep

Stood in the meat aisle for 10 minutes last weekend trying to decide between a chuck roast at $6.50 a pound or pork shoulder at $2.80 a pound. Groceries are already eating up too much of my paycheck so I went with the pork shoulder even though I really wanted beef. Cooked it low and slow in my dutch oven for about 4 hours with some potatoes and carrots I already had. Honestly it came out way better than I expected and I got like 8 servings out of it for under $12 total. Anyone else stuck making these kinds of choices at the store lately?

Buddy of mine tried the same swap and said the pork ended up tasting better than the chuck roast he usually buys.

Ngl just make sure you season the pork heavy, like way more than you think you need. That's the trick for making it match up to a good chuck roast.

Spent my whole Sunday staring at pork and still couldn't decide what to make.
