Appreciation post: my $3 plastic spatula just hit 2 years strong
I bought it at a dollar store in Austin back in 2022. It's melted a little on one edge from a hot pan incident. Still flips eggs better than my fancy metal one. Anyone else got a beat up kitchen tool that just won't quit?

Man, that line about "flips eggs better than my fancy metal one" really got me. My buddy Dave has this old wooden spoon that's been in his family for like 30 years, it's got a big crack right down the middle and the handle is held together with electrical tape. He swears by it for stirring chili and says it adds "character" to the food. He tried using a nice silicone one I got him for Christmas and said it just didn't have the right feel. Sometimes the cheap stuff just earns its keep, your mileage may vary but he'd never toss that spoon.

lmao Dave's spoon sounds legendary. My grandma had a similar spatula that was basically a charred stick with a floppy rubber end, and she'd threaten us if we tried to use anything else on her pancakes.
