I finally stopped over-watering my succulents after one harsh comment

My neighbor told me my jade plant looked like it was drowning, so now I only water them once every 3 weeks instead of every week. Anyone else kill plants by loving them too much?

Oh man, I did the exact same thing with my snake plants! I was watering them twice a week because I thought they needed constant moisture, turns out they just rot from the roots slowly. Now I check the soil with my finger before even thinking about watering and they're way happier (and so am I).

Finger test is the way to go. I killed two snake plants before I figured out they just want to be left alone. Now I wait until the soil is bone dry, like dust dry, and then I give them a good soak. My biggest one is pushing up new shoots now after I stopped drowning it. Just gotta remember these plants are basically desert survivors, they store water in those thick leaves.
