Heard a cashier say canned beans are better than dried and I had to bite my tongue
Standing in line at the Grocery Outlet in Spokane and this cashier tells the customer ahead of me that dried beans are a scam because of the soaking time. Ive been doing the 99 cent bag vs 1.50 can math for years. Sure dried takes planning but you get like 3x the amount and no BPA lining. Anyone else stockpile the 79 cent bags when they go on sale or am I the weird one?

Started doing the same after my pressure cooker changed the whole game. The dried bags go on sale and I grab a dozen, takes about an hour from start to finish with no soaking.

Pressure cooking is just one of those little shifts that makes you wonder why you ever did it the hard way. Same thing happened to me with buying whole chickens and breaking them down myself, saves money and takes ten minutes now. @janab82 nailed it though, the real win is skipping the soak and still getting beans that come out perfect every time. Once you figure out one kitchen shortcut like that, you start looking at everything else differently, like why am I still struggling with rice or dried chickpeas when there's a better route. It's the small stuff that adds up over a week of cooking.
