Guy at the auto parts counter in Tucson showed me a $4 can of belt dressing beat a $60 belt swap
My truck started squealing every cold morning about 6 months ago, and I walked into the parts store on Speedway ready to buy a new serpentine belt. The older guy behind the counter asked what it sounded like, then told me to pop the hood while he grabbed a can. He sprayed a little on the belt with the engine idling and the noise stopped in about 10 seconds. He said "run that for a few days, if it comes back then we talk about a belt." That was in February and it still hasn't come back. I paid $4.29, and he could've easily sold me the $60 belt and I would've bought it. Anyone else had a parts guy talk them out of a sale like that?
